Getting famous?

When I was in Japan this last trip, we visited my wife’s cousin’s school one evening. Everyone was finishing up with their sports clubs, but there was word I was coming, and a bunch of them waited to meet me. It was a pretty nostalgic moment, reminding me of my CIR days on the JET Programme. Anyway, my picture found it’s way into some newspaper in Fukushima. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve been in a newspaper in Japan 🙂Fukushima News

Vacation at long last.

I’m off to Japan today for a couple weeks. It’s gonna be another whirlwind trip like last year. I think I need about a month in order to totally be able to relax. On the short list of todo’s will be shopping for clothes, new digicam, and some ds kanji software.

Maybe I’ll get to do some blogging, but probably not… we’ll see.

Harmon to Paradise

I spent a short vacation in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago, my first time there. I gained some weight from all the food and alcohol, didn’t lose my ass in the casinos (actually, I won a little bit), and saw some shows. It was a really great trip, and I can’t wait to go back.

We caught a taxi from the airport, and the driver asked if we wanted to take the freeway. We just said to take the best way… wrong. The driver took the freeway, and the ride ended up taking an eternity during rush hour and 25 bucks! Going back to the airport, I asked one of the bell staff what’s the best way to get to the airport, “Tell the driver Harmon to Paradise.” he said (we were staying at the Paris). We arrived at the airport in about 10 minutes, and was only a $15 ride.

I’ll be staying off the freeway the next time I head down there.
